CI Games has created a potential masterpiece that will set the first-player shooter game apart from other titles in the same genre. "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3" boasts a flexible environment, as well as a gritty backstory for the single-player campaign.

GameSpot was able to interview CEO Marek Tyminski, where he illustrated a few points of improvement for the action sequel with some light spoilers.

According to Tyminski, the team decided to create an open-world environment, shying away from a more linear gameplay that it had before. He explained that being a one-man team, the character will have to use all means necessary to carry out the job. This means the player will not just be using a sniper skill all throughout the game but will also have to carry out the mission as a ghost or as a warrior, whichever the player's preference is.

The gameplay revolves around the three pillars: sniper, ghost, and warrior. As a sniper, the player engages in long-range assassination while factoring in scope elevation and wind speed. The ghost pillar tackles how the gamer stalks foes and eliminates them as discretely as possible, with drones to help him do the job. The warrior is an in-your-face pillar that deals with head-on assault while using a variety of weapons.

The biggest reveal during the interview is how deeply scarring the story is going to be. "You are John North and you're in the country of Georgia. You're there because you have your orders, but at the same time, it's personal. Your brother turns out to be your biggest enemy in the game. I cannot tell you more right now, because it'll spoil so much, but that's a big thing in terms of how the story's built," Tyminski explains.

Another noteworthy development will be the multiplayer modes. Tyminski didn't confirm nor deny anything yet, considering the said function is a work in progress. He only mentioned that it will be released as DLC after the official launch of the game.

The game will be supported on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. Players who pre-order the game will get exclusive access to an additional single-player campaign, "The Escape of Lydia."

"Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3" will be sniping its way into the gaming arena on April 4, 2017.
