Grab your tissues, "Sleepy Hollow" fans, because here come some bad news.

Speculation is rife that the supernatural drama series is on its last leg. Even though the series got an early renewal for its third season, ratings are not looking good.

A report indicates that as of Nov. 5, season 3 of the show is only "averaging a .94 in the demo, with a season-to-date average audience of 3.37 viewers. That's down by nearly 40% in the 18-49 demographic."

The show's ratings have long been suffering, even before Mark Goffman was replaced with Clifton Campbell as showrunner. And FOX's latest decision to move "Sleepy Hollow" from Thursday nights to Friday nights--an apparent indicator for failing shows--have fans reaching for something to grab on to.

While this move is known to be a precursor to an eventual cancellation, that reportedly is not always the case.

According to TVLine, "Sleepy is one of Fox's top-performing shows in Live+7 DVR playback, so people are watching (just not live)." This might offer some sort of comfort to fans. And season 3 of the show is described as being creatively better than season 2. So it might not all be bad news.

"Sleepy Hollow" is a modern retelling of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving. It follows Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), a patriot and captain who was killed in the Revolutionary War by the Headless Horseman some 230 years ago. He wakes up and finds himself in the town of Sleepy Hollow, and discovers that he was resurrected by his wife, Katrina (Katia Winter), who is now a witch.

He teams up with Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), the town's police lieutenant, in order to capture the Headless Horseman, who has also risen from his grave and goes on a killing spree. The two of them also find out that they are the only ones who can stop the apocalypse from happening.

"Sleepy Hollow" will premiere in its new Friday timeslot on Feb. 5, 2016 at 8 p.m.
