'Sister Wives' star Meri Brown online affair

TLC star Meri Brown of "Sister Wives" finds herself caught in a catfish controversy after a series of voicemails revealed she's been having an online affair.

In Touch Weekly obtained the voicemail exchange between Meri and a man named Sam Cooper, who really appears to be a woman posing as a man.

In one of the voice messages, Meri was heard telling "Sam" that their relationship is something special to her.

"Please don't take that away from us, okay," Kody Brown's ex-wife was heard saying.

Meri was also caught on tape comparing "Sam" to his ex-husband Kody, stating that the former wins in all aspects.

"You want me. You say that you're willing to fight for me, you say all these things about love and affection and passion. So yeah, if I were to compare you — you win — all the time," Meri said, as revealed on tape.

Meri admitted to the affair and said that it started "during an emotional and vulnerable time earlier this year," as she was looking for someone to talk to, an exclusive report from People stated.

The star was also firm when she said she had never met "Sam" in real life.

Meri then realized she was actually fooled but "Sam" reportedly insisted he was a real person and even claimed that he and Meri had sex several times, Radar Online reported.

However, In Touch did an investigation on the online persona and learned that the man who posed to be a six-foot-six-inch individual hailing from Chicago is actually a woman under a false identity.

Amidst the ongoing controversy, Meri is still thankful that she has her polygamist family to lean on for support. In Touch insiders did reveal that the scandal the family is facing is heartbreaking for them.

The sister wives believe that Meri broke her promise to Kody. Despite being in a polygamist family, all the women are expected to stay faithful to only one man.

Meri and Kody had been married for 24 years until their divorce in 2014. According to reports, the two decided to get a divorce so that Kody could legally marry Robyn, the fourth wife and youngest of the sister wives.
