"Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope" is set to arrive on Steam via its Early Access feature, and it will start rolling out on Oct. 17. The virtual reality game is expected to be accessible for the next six months until the final version arrives.
Game developer Croteam has announced on Twitter that their upcoming game will be available while still being developed. For now, it will only work on the HTC Vive since device already has a controller. On the other hand, the Oculus Rift will only be supported once the Oculus Touch controllers arrive.
On its official Steam page, the game's description reads: "It is the period of the first Mental War. Earth's defense forces are crumbling under the hordes of the vicious Mental. He managed to break the will of many nations by destroying the ancient shrines of the domestic people. A fearless EDF general, Sam 'Serious' Stone, is leading the resistance from the battlecruiser 'BC Saratoga' in a desperate attempt to save the galaxy."
The full version of "Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope" is expected to be ready in six months, and players who opted for early access will immediately have their version updated. The final version will bring in more planets with more than one location on each, more enemies and bosses, additional power-ups, and a shielding ability. A new difficulty mode and a player skill tree will also be included in the final release version.
The studio also mentioned that game is playable and stable. However, it still contains bugs, which could lead to game crashes. The company is currently working continuously to improve the overall game performance and VR optimization. The development team will also be constantly asking for feedback from players until they have solved every problem in the game.
Upon its early release, the game will feature two different planets with multiple levels. Two different bosses will also be available. Several weapons will also be at the disposal of the players since different enemies require different types of firepower. Upgrades and power-ups will also be available for players to take advantage of.
