"Scorpion" season 2 returns on Jan. 4.

"Scorpion" season 2 is currently on a brief hiatus, but fans of the American drama series know how waiting can be the toughest thing to do.

The show's midseason finale had the team rushing to save Christmas. The episode also contained some pretty emotional moments, especially Walter's breakdown in front of everyone. Losing a sister is not something someone can easily get over.

But after the events of the first half of season 2, fans are wondering if the back half will be just as exciting and action-packed. It seems like the short answer is yes.

Based on the synopsis posted by TVLine, it looks like the team will be in for a hell of a ride once season 2 returns.

"In order to save a United States Special Forces unit from certain death, Team Scorpion must brave the subzero temperatures of Antarctica. While there, Happy becomes lost in a blizzard and Toby risks his life to find her," the synopsis read.

The mission definitely sounds dangerous. Team Scorpion has faced many challenges in the past, but this will probably test their ability to the limit.

It looks like the production team behind the show are preparing to impress with amazing effects once again, seeing as the location for the episode is set in Antarctica. It surely is intriguing how the show manages such effects, since the series is shot in Los Angeles.

"Scorpion" is a CBS television show that follows Walter O'Brien (loosely based on the real life O'Brien) and his team as they solve complex crises and save lives through the use of expert computer skills.

Elyes Gabel stars as Walter, with Katharine McPhee as Paige Dineen, Robert Patrick as Agent Cabe Gallo, Eddie Kaye Thomas as Tobias "Toby" Curtis, Jadyn Wong as Happy Quinn and Ari Stidham as Sylvester Dodd.

"Scorpion" season 2 episode 13 premieres on Jan. 4, 2016.
