"Scandal's" midseason finale just wrapped up and it was an episode full of heartbreaking moments for "Olitz" fans.

In the episode, titled "Baby It's Cold Outside," Olivia (Kerry Washington) told Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) that they don't have a future together.

Olivia just got into the White House as Fitz believes that bringing her into the circle would be good for everyone. Olivia lived a comfortable life until she no longer liked the idea of following the President around.

The last scenes of the episode showed her packing her bags and leaving the White House. More surprisingly, Olivia decided to abort her child without Fitz knowing.

This drama-filled episode provides hints as to what season 5B would bring to the audiences. Goldwyn also shared his thoughts about the midseason finale and what he thinks will happen when the show returns.

The Hollywood Reporter did an interview with Goldwyn to talk about that abortion storyline and how it will affect the couple's relationship.

When asked about the reaction to the abortion script, the actor admitted that he was shocked at just how "dark" the writers can get. He didn't even ask showrunner Shonda Rhimes about it.

"I thought that final scene with me and Kerry, as awful as it was, was very well-written. It was clear and quite balanced," he explained to the news outlet.

Goldwyn also mentioned that if his character would learn the truth, he'd be really devastated. But eventually, Fitz is said to recover easily because of his deep love for Olivia.

Goldwyn also revealed that he is still rooting for his character and Kerry's to end up together. The actor is positive that the two will find a way to fix things and be back in a relationship.

"I think there's hope. I think Fitz and Olivia really love each other," he continued, adding that people who love each other just how "Olitz" do, always "come back from anything."

Now that fans have seen a split from "Olitz," it remains to be seen how long the two will be apart from each other.

"Scandal" season 5 will return to ABC on Feb. 11 at 9 p.m. EST.
