The second half of "Scandal" season 5 will air in less than a couple of weeks. To keep the excitement running, the stars of the hit ABC drama are ready to drop some bombshells about what the rest of the season will look like.

Actress Bellamy Young, who plays the role of Mellie Grant in the series, recently opened up about her character's plans to become the president of the United States in the near future.

The star said that when "Scandal" season 5 returns, the presidential election will begin. The individuals that Mellie will compete with for the position she has always aspired of obtaining will also be revealed during the midseason premiere.

"It's an amazing field of candidates. I cannot wait for everybody to see some new and old faces," Young told Entertainment Weekly about the lineup of Republican and Democratic candidates running for presidency.

"Some folks will be a surprise, some folks will be folks you know very, very well, and some folks you may not have seen in a minute. It's good and juicy," the actress went on to tease.

The presidential post currently belongs to Fitz and taking the position from Olivia's former boyfriend is one of Mellie's greatest motivations and deciding factors in running for the role of the head of state.

Mellie has planned her success carefully. It looks like the former first lady will be seeking the help of Olivia for her campaign. While Olivia declined the offer, it does not look like her decision is permanent.

In the event Liv chooses to accept the offer, Fitz would be even more devastated because he basically has nobody in his corner at the moment.

"Scandal" season 5 returns with episode 10 "I''s Hard Out Here for a General" on Feb. 11 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
