Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 vs. iPad Air 2 specs comparison: Which tablet rules?

 Apple Store

Samsung and Apple continue on with their head to head competition when it comes to their devices. Recently, Samsung has produced its latest tablet that appears to resemble an iPad.

But which of the two, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 or iPad Air 2, is better?

The decision will depend on user preference based on different features.

In this era of "selfie" lovers, camera specs are important for many users. Tab S2 boasts an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera, while iPad Air 2 carries the same rear cam specs, but only has a 1.2 megapixels for the front snapper.

Samsung gains points since Tab S2 features a 2K video while iPad Air 2 only has 1080p, but the latter packs several features that can make picture taking more fun and these include autofocus, panorama mode, and face detection.

For the battery and storage options, Tab S2 is powered by a 5,870 mAh while its counterpart has a 7,340 mAh, according to NeuroGadget. This means that iPad Air 2's battery life is superior to Tab S2's.

For the storage, Tab S2 has both 32 GB and 64 GB options, while iPad Air 2 has 16 GB and 64 GB variants.

On a more serious note, Tab S2 runs on an Exynos 4533 octa-core processor with a 3 GB RAM. iPad Air 2, on the other hand, runs on a 1.5GHz triple-core A8X processor with 2 GB RAM only.

The iPad Air 2 is already thin, sporting a thickness of 0.24 inches; but that's not thin enough for Samsung since Tab S2 is measured at 0.22 inches and is still much lighter at 0.86 pounds compared to its rival that weighs 0.96 pounds.

Overall, both devices show promising specs and offer great performance. Tab S2, being likened to an iPad, is just shockingly thin but the downside to the device is that it has unimpressive battery life compared to the iPad Air 2.
