Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs: Flagship getting curved version only?; Exynos 8895 reportedly coming to flagship

The Samsung Galaxy S8 might come only with a curved display version, if the company starts with the flagship its plan to make the Edge its identity.

This is what Samsung mobile business head of Koh Dong-jin hinted via Android Authority:

"Samsung has considered that it would make the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup if the company can provide consumers differentiated user experience through software and user-friendly functions."

That being said, Samsung Galaxy S8 might not get a flat-screened version. Samsung seems to have taken the first step with the recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

The phablet only comes in a curved version and did not have the "Edge" in its name. This might be the case for Samsung Galaxy S8 as well.

Meanwhile, it is also being said that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be fitted out with the all-new Exynos 8895 processor. According to a new report, Samsung is testing the next-generation chipset for its 2017 flagship.

The Exynos 8895 processor is reportedly built in a 10nm process and generates peek speeds up to an insane 4GHz. However, Samsung is expected to cap this for retail handsets.

The 10nm process, on the other hand, should allow the Samsung Galaxy S8 will experience a boost in power efficiency. There will also be no overheating issues, thanks to its thermal efficiency.

The latest Exynos processor to date is the 8890, which powers majority of Samsung's flagships available today. The same devices are acclaimed for their performance and speed.

With a more advanced processor like the Exynos 8895 in the Samsung Galaxy S8, users can expect greater processing power on the 2017 handset.

The chipset should also work well with the 5.5-inch 4K display with Virtual Reality (VR) support rumored to be featured on the highly-anticipated handset.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be released early next year.
