'Rick and Morty' season 3: Beth's backstory to be featured?

"Rick and Morty" Adult Swim

"Rick and Morty" aired its last episode for season 2 last month and fans are happy to know that the animated series has been renewed for another season. Other than its renewal, there are no confirmed details on the show's release date or what season 3 will bring fans.

However, there are reports surfacing that the Adult Swim series might get a crossover with "Gravity Falls." The speculations on the crossover started when fans spotted Easter eggs on both animated flicks and it made many viewers assume the likelihood.

"Rick and Morty" show co-creator Justin Roiland and "Gravity Falls's" Alex Hirsch are, after all, friends and the possibility is not far behind.

Also, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly last Oct. 26, Hirsch explained the Easter egg connection to both series.

"We started putting little Easter eggs in our shows that sort of connected the two. Our motivation for that is primarily to freak people out and blow their minds," 30-year-old Hirsch told the news outlet.

When asked about the crossover, Hirsch gave out a vague response stating that he can't confirm it, but would enjoy the idea of confusing and amusing people.

Meanwhile, season 3 of "Rick and Morty" may explore more on Beth's backstory. In an interview with Hitflix's Alan Sepinwall, series co-creator Dan Harmon revealed that Beth is his favorite among all the characters in the show.

With that, it could be possible that season 3 will feature more of Beth's storyline, especially the part where Rick left her but then came back to her, MoviePilot reported.

The news outlet also suspected that the third season will also deal with the story of how Rick was able to get out of prison.

It's going to be a long wait for fans as there's no news about when season 3 will be released.
