PlayStation VR games: 'Rez Infinite' will be one of game titles

 PlayStation Blog

Sony is slowly revealing the game titles set for the upcoming PlayStation VR. One of the games to be included is "Rez Infinite," an updated game based on the classic musical shooter from Sega.

Sony made the announcement last Saturday at the 2015 PlayStation Experience. The game will be a remake of the 2001 "Rez," with creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi on board for the project, Polygon noted.

Made to be compatible with virtual reality (VR), the game will have an improved performance and will run at 120 frames per second (fps) accompanied by 3D audio.

It will also offer a new gameplay level known as Area X. For those who won't have VR, the game can still be played, according to Mark McDonald, who is collaborating with Mizuguchi for the game.

McDonald posted on Twitter that the game is "100% playable without VR as well" supporting 1,080p resolution and running on 60 fps with 7.1 audio.

An updated version of "Rez" won't be a first, since HexaDrive already created a high-definition version of the game, which received positive reviews when it was released for Xbox 360 back in January 2008, Yibada noted.

However, the problem with the "Rez Infinite" Xbox 360 version is that the audio was off, specifically the game audio does not always match the attacks.

Meanwhile, Mizuguchi also posted on the PlayStation Blog to talk about the VR version of the game. He wrote that when "Rez" first came out in 2001, not a lot of people got the essence of what he wanted to achieve with the game.

At the same time, Mizuguchi revealed that the few people who understood the game "really got it." Since then, the game has garnered a steady fan base and was described to be "visionary," "revolutionary," and "ahead of its time."

"With Rez Infinite, I feel like that time has finally come," Mizuguchi expressed in his blog post.

Fans of the original game would be excited to know that a remake is arriving soon and it will be available on a more high-tech platform. The release date for "Rez Infinite" VR version has not been revealed.
