It seems that game developer and publisher Capcom is busy working on "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" and their new RE Engine that there has not been any word released about the "Resident Evil 2" remake.

As Motoring Crunch puts it, there have been no new details about the game, although there are speculations that it might be released along or bundled with "Resident Evil 7," which is scheduled to be released in January 2017. The site also surmises that a beta version could be launched early next year. Capcom, however, has not released an official announcement about this.

The remake of "Resident Evil 2" was announced in August 2015, with game producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi from Capcom's R&D Division 1 saying in a video message that the project has been approved for development.

"Thanks to your incredible passion and support, the project has finally been approved for development," he says in the video. "We at R&D Division 1 will do our best to take on your feedback and deliver the gameplay experience you've been waiting for," the producer went on to say.

Fans have expressed their excitement and, in the more recent comments, said that they have been waiting for months for this game. Just like Motoring Crunch, some are speculating that the demo will be released alongside "Resident Evil 7." Apart from that, gamers are also looking forward to the remake of "Resident Evil 3" and "Resident Evil - Code Veronica."

"It's been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have pushed the project to get approved," Hirabayashi is quoted on the video's description as saying. "The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans' passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want," he added.

He did say that it will be some time before they will be able to give updates about the project.

"Resident Evil 2" was released in 1998 for the PlayStation and was ported to Nintendo 64, Windows PC, GameCube, and Dreamcast. No announcement has been made regarding the release of the remake.
