In the next episode of "Reign," the people will lose their faith in Mary (Adelaide Kane) since news has circulated around the town that she would not come to help them. Will Mary be able to prove them wrong?

The upcoming episode of "Reign" will take place after a strong earthquake hits Scotland. This is when Mary will be tested on whether she will be able to take action and help the people of her town. Mary will also have to confront John Knox (Jonathan Goad) at the same time after the incident, so her delay in helping out the town may be due to this. Mary's aid in the town is crucial to her image as the ruler and it will also help her gain more people on her side for when the time comes and she's in need of their help.

In other parts of the story, Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten), who's in England, will be seen with Gideon (Ben Geurens), which will cause her to take extreme actions. Meanwhile, Charles (Spencer Macpherson) will be making an important decision with consequences that he has to face later on.

The promo trailer for the next episode of "Reign" begins with Darnley (Will Kemp) taking something out of a chest, which is when Mary walks in. He explains that he's taking whatever he can get since she took away everything he had. Darnley will then proceed to ask Mary for his place back on the court, which Mary will then give.

Someone will confront Mary that bringing Darnley back into the court is a huge mistake because his capabilities are endless. Mary will defend herself by saying that her decision was a political necessity.

The trailer ends with Darley telling Mary that the faith of the nation is in her hands. The clip hints that Mary will have a lot of pressure to deal with in the next episode and her image as a leader will be greatly affected by the decisions she makes.

"Reign" season 4, episode 12, "The Shakedown," airs Friday, May 12, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
