'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: Rockstar Games' next project coming in 2016?

"Red Dead Redemption" Rockstar

The year is coming to an end and every gamer across the world is anticipating for new titles from various game developers. For Rockstar Games, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is said to be its next big project.

According to a report from International Business Times, an ex-Rockstar employee named Danny Ross may have leaked the company's next project.

When asked about what Rockstar will release next, the poster only gave out a cryptic message of "Really? Dumbass. Really? Two." Take only its first letters and it gives "RDR2," which could reference "Red Dead Redemption 2."

In a previous report, a disgruntled employee with a user name, AnonDN1978, also shared some juicy details about the same game.

The user claimed that the new game will be called, "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the Old West" and will be released in 2016.

It was also mentioned that the next game will be set in the same location as the original game, but events featured will be those from 12 years prior to the original game. The user also previously revealed that there will be three playable characters — two coming from the original game and one will be a new arrival.

Now, the user has revealed the identity of two of the characters as Seth and Irish, according to Inquisitr.

Seth is a treasure hunter with necrophilia, while Irish, also one of the main characters for the rumored game, is described to be a dysfunctional alcoholic.

There are other rumors circulating online, particularly in a Facebook page called Red Dead Revenge, which seem to agree AnonDN1978's release date report. It is mentioned on the page that the new Rockstar game will be unveiled soon and the scheduled release will be next year.

Although Rockstar has not ruled out any possibility of a new "Red Dead Redemption," the company has been mum about the issue.

With all the speculations going on over the Internet, fans can't help but get all excited. But then again, all rumors will remain just that until an announcement is made by the game developers themselves. Nevertheless, the excitement sparked by these rumors may just help build up the hype for the game until it hits the market.
