Folks who were awaiting a sequel for "Red Dead Redemption" may have to wait a little longer. This is after rumors surfaced that instead of a "Red Dead Redemption 2" sequel, Rockstar games seems to have shifted their focus on a new game instead.

Instead a new IP game could come out before E3, dousing hopes of a Red "Dead Redemption 2" offering.

"Red Dead Redemption" originally debuted in May 18, 2010 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 game consoles.

For those who are unfamiliar, "Red Dead Redemption" is a western action-adventure game that is actually a sequel of the Red Dead franchise. It follows the life of a former outlaw named John Marston who is forced to use his bounty hunter skills by the government after his family is taken hostage by the latter.

Rockstar has been known to come up with annual blockbuster games but for this year, critics believe the game that will be released will not be "Red Dead Redemption 2."

Rockstar had released a DLC, Undead Nightmare, back in October, 2010 where zombies were added to the game. With the add-on, Marston was forced to find a cure for the outbreak. A new firmware may however be coming out soon for the PS4 which will reportedly be made available by the end of March together with a bunch of new features.

Among the features which could come with it include the Suspend/Resume feature which should aid players pause and resume their gameplay with one click of the power button.

GTA V is shaping up to be Rockstar's major game offering this year but do expect another one before the year ends. Whatever happens, they will introduce a new IP game but sadly this will not be "Red Dawn Redemption 2."
