Real Madrid news: Spanish team needs victory over VfL Wolfsburg for Champions League's 2nd leg

Real Madrid will face off against VfL Wolfsburg on Tuesday, April 12, in the Spanish team's turf, the Santiago Bernabéu. Real Madrid must win this one in order to achieve a European streak and eventually add another one to the trophy case.

Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid's general manager, is expecting that Wolfsburg will be starting headstrong and set the pace of the game by scoring early on in the game. On their part, Real needs to match the opposing team's intensity, to fight and run.

Zidane said in a BBC Football report, "There are a lot of messages about firing ourselves up but we need the opposite -- we have to use our heads. We're not going to win the game in 10 or 15 minutes, and they could really complicate things if they score a goal."

He added, "I don't need to say too much to the players because they know exactly what's at stake. I've seen the faces of the players, they're very focused on the game and that's the most important thing."

It is expected that forward Gareth Bale, midfielder Toni Kroos and centre-back, Sergio Ramos, will be playing in the upcoming match. UEFA reported that Bale has high hopes of having something significant to contribute to the team for the current season.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid's forward, is also expecting that his team will break the tie with Wolfsburg on Tuesday's game to be nearer to their Champions League championship goal.

On the other hand, Wolfsburg is expecting the upcoming game to be a tough one for them. The German team has defeated Madrid once, and it will be nothing more than a momentous occasion if they will be able to do it again, especially in Madrid's own turf.

Dieter Hecking, VfL Wolfsburg coach, acknowledged the fact that Real Madrid is the favorite in this match as well as the big difference in terms of budget and talent, but if they win this game, it will be a big disappointment for the Spanish team.

Hecking also hopes that Real Madrid's lack of consistency will work to their team's advantage in the upcoming match.

Real Madrid C.F. will face VfL Wolfsburg in Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid on Tuesday, April 12 for the second leg of UEFA Champions League wuarter finals.
