PS4 Neo vs Xbox One Scorpio release date, specs: Consoles tipped to feature 4k gaming and VR capabilities

 Sony/Microsoft

Both Sony and Microsoft are now planning to introduce brand-new gaming consoles soon enough. This is despite both the Xbox One and PS4 being around just three years in circulation.

Of course, various rumors of the creation of the Neo or PS 4.5 have been circulating around the internet for a while. Finally, this console was confirmed at the E3 2016 event in Los Angeles. After a short while, Microsoft also took to the stage and announced its own new console, the Project Scorpio.

Both of these companies deny that these new consoles will be the successors to their current console generations. Regardless of this, the arrival of these consoles will herald a huge shift in how hardware is upgraded, by releasing them in shorter intervals, resulting in more overlaps as well as having two platforms that complement each other.

According to The Week, the most anticipated feature for both upcoming consoles is the 4k gaming capacity. 4k gaming will enable High Dynamic Range gaming provided that the user will have 4k television in their possession. Additionally, both these games are expected to boast a high-end virtual reality experience, as long as the user will have a compatible VR headset.

As for capabilities, both the Neo and the Scorpio are expected to be more powerful than the current consoles. However, according to the Pocket Lint, PS4.5 Neo is rumored to be lighter in spec compared to the Scorpio. After all, this article reports that the Xbox One Scorpio will have six teraflops of computing power, perfect for rendering 4k graphics and is comparable to a high-end PC in terms of graphics. However, for the PS4.5 Neo, its leaked specs suggest that it will only have 4.14 teraflops of GPU power.

The release dates for both consoles have yet to be confirmed.
