'Pokemon GO' updates, features: New patch brings back the Capture Map feature

Now that "Pokemon GO" has released the Pokemon GO Plus" accessory, Niantic hopes that it will revitalize the fanbase of the augmented reality game since it lost approximately 80 percent of its active players ever since its peak back in July. Furthermore, new features have been added to the game, and these might prove useful to fans of the monster-catching title.

According to Game Rant, while Niantic announced the new updates for the game, it seems that the company has not yet addressed the issues that the "Pokemon GO Plus" accessory is currently facing, such as improper sync with Android devices and the like.

Regardless, the update does give various fixes for the game. It also brings back a former feature in a slightly downsized form.

As players can remember, the Capture Location mechanic was previously removed because it was considered broken. However, in its new form, players can now just see a line of text describing where the Pokemon was captured instead of a small map in the Pokemon's info screen.

According to Heavy, the Capture Location mechanic also shows the date the Pokemon was captured, and the feature itself can be used in order to check and see if a possible spawn point can be traced from it.

The mechanic works for hatched eggs as well, and it will only show players where the egg was found instead of where it was hatched. As such, it confirms that region-specific Pokemon can only be hatched through eggs found in that specific region.

The update also fixes the minor bug where players are unable to capture Pokemon that were lured using incense while using the "Pokemon GO Plus" accessory.

This update, however, does not include the rumored Gen 2 Pokemon set as well as the upcoming trading and Player versus Player feature, much to the disappointment of fans.
