'Pokemon Go' news: catching rare Pokemon about to get easier thanks to new mechanic

Despite the fact that "Pokemon GO" is no longer the top app in the United States, it can be said that the game still has a large pool of active players. As such, in order to ensure that the fan base of the game is retained, Niantic is planning to introduce a new kind of mechanic which will allow players to easily catch rare Pokemon as long as certain conditions are met.

According to Phone Arena, Niantic will most likely introduce the new feature in its next patch update which will provide certain bonuses when players earn medals based on catching a certain Pokemon type. The achievements in the trainer's page such as the Kindler, Punk Girl, and the like will determine the improvements in terms of catching rare Pokemon of the same type.

The bonus applies even if the Pokemon has more than one type. For instance, most players may already have a maxed out medal for the Punk Girl due to the notorious amounts of Zubats the game has to offer, and as such if they catch Poison-type Pokemon, such as a Muk, their chances of catching it will increase despite it being a rarer evolved Pokemon.

However, the bonus when it comes to catching multiple-type Pokemon will be the averaged between the types concerned. As such, if the Pokemon is both Flying and Poison, then the game will calculate the average between the two and use that to compute the bonus.

The last big update for the "Pokemon GO" game was the introduction of the Buddy System, as reported by CNET. The feature enables the trainers to "walk" their Pokemon in order to gain candies that can be used in order to either power them up or evolve them.

With this new medal and bonus feature about to be released, Niantic hopes to attract more trainers, or at least make sure that they do not lose more.
