'Pokemon GO' news: Buddy Pokemon mechanic will soon let players walk their Pokemon

While the hype for "Pokemon GO" seems to have settled down for a bit, there are still millions of aspiring trainers walking around in search of the much-coveted rare Pokemon. However, some datamining has revealed that Niantic is about to add a new feature to the game, called the "buddy Pokemon" system.

According to Game Rant, this new feature will let players get one of their Pokemon to accompany them in their journey to becoming a Pokemon Master without being stuck inside a Pokeball. This could be reminiscent of the "Pokemon Yellow" game, where Pikachu, instead of being inside the Pokeball, is beside its trainer. This chosen Pokemon will be vary in size, with the smaller Pokemon will be able to rest its body against its trainers shoulder.

As for the bigger ones, especially those that fly, will be able to fly next to its trainer. It seems to be more than just an aesthetic addition to the game, however, since it serves a much greater purpose than that. Apparently, if a player walks with their Pokemon, it will generate candies, which means that players will have other ways of getting it besides capturing wild Pokemon or hatching eggs.

The game will give a maximum set amount of candies a player can gain from walking a Pokemon every day, but as of now, it seems that the exact limit is yet to be revealed. Forbes adds that trainers can only walk one buddy Pokemon at any given time, but players can do multiple walks each day, until the cap for candies is reached.

Meanwhile, it seems that the main problem of "Pokemon GO" is its lack of an endgame mechanic. After all, egg hatching, walking, battling gyms can, at some point or another, fail to deliver the end game. But with the new buddy system, it is possible for players to catch them all as long as they have the base Pokemon to evolve from it.
