PlayStation VR release date, updates: Sony drops rather long FAQ list about new VR device

The Sony PlayStation VR will be officially released on October 13. Sony PlayStation

The PlayStation VR headset is set to be released this month, and since VR devices are fairly new, Sony has recently published the ultimate FAQ list for its upcoming device. The company has tried to cover everything they could, from basic to advanced queries that players might have.

First, the PlayStation VR will be officially released on Oct. 13 and will be offered in two bundles. The Core Bundle is composed of PS VR headset, headphones, and cables, and it is available for $399.99. The other option is the Launch Bundle, being sold at $499.99, which includes the PlayStation VR system, PlayStation Camera, two PlayStation Move Motion Controllers, and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds.

While using the device, other people in the room can also see what the person wearing the headset sees. The TV can be set up to let others see the things going on inside the VR headset but as a 2D image. Multiple persons can even play together or against each other, with one using the headset and the other using the TV as their display screen.

Additionally, Sony also mentioned that wireless earphones or headphones would not work with the device. Users also need to turn off the headphone's surround sound feature since it will interfere with the headset's 3D audio.

The company also mentioned that fans could use their VR headset to watch movies and play non-VR games. The device is equipped with a Cinematic Mode feature that would allow its content to change to 2D. This would emulate the feeling of watching a movie on a gigantic screen.

The Japanese multinational company also said that a demo disc will be included in every bundle, and this disc will contain several demo games. A few of them are "Allumette, "Battlezone," "DriveClub VR," "Eve: Valkyrie," "Gnog," "Harmonix Music VR," "Headmaster," "Here They Lie," "Job Simulator," "PlayStation VR Worlds," "Thumper," and "Tumble VR."

The PlayStation VR is scheduled to be released on Oct. 13.
