CBS has yet to announce the premiere date of "Person of Interest" season 5, but fans are already worried that this season will signify the end of the series.
The network lowered the number of episodes ordered for the upcoming season of the critically acclaimed sci-fi action crime drama. Instead of the typical 22 to 23 episodes, "Person of Interest" season 5 will only be composed of 13 episodes.
"We ordered 13 episodes, we hope to get them on this spring," CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller told reporters present during the Television Critics Association's press tour in Pasadena in January this year, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
"That's what we're targeting right now. [Showrunners Jonah Nolan and Greg Plageman] have planned a terrific season. Can't wait for the fans of the show to see it. It'll be a real treat for viewers."
But the network remains mum about the release date of the series. According to a report from TVLine, there is no word yet from CBS about the premiere date of the show's fifth season. However, the report assumes that this year's People's Choice Award's Favorite TV Crime Drama will start airing its fifth sometime in late May.
When asked if season 5 will be the final installment of the series, Geller said that he is still not sure about it since the show has yet to air. However, he confirmed that actress Sarah Shahi will return to reprise her role as former government assassin Sameen Shaw in season 5.
"You can look forward to it with great gusto. She's amazing. I think Jonah and Greg would kill me if I said anything other than it's fantastic," the network executive revealed.
The network is expected to make the announcement about the "Person of Interest" season 5 premiere date soon.
