Patti LuPone's return to "Penny Dreadful" has been confirmed, and with the new teaser photo that was released, fans are going wild as to what season 3 has in store for them.

The Tony Award winning actress will reportedly play the role of Dr. Seward, an American therapist who treats Vanessa (Eva Green) with an unconventional approach.

The teaser photo released by Showtime sparked speculations among fans. The photo showed Vanessa in a straitjacket, lying on Dr. Seward's lap, with the latter comforting her. The pair can be seen inside of what seems to be a padded cell, leading to many suspicions that season 3 will have Vanessa admitted into some sort of mental asylum after battling with the evil inside her.

LuPone previously appeared on the British-American horror drama's second season. She played Joan Clayton, also known as the Cut-Wife.

The arrival of Dr. Seward drew interest from fans because of the character's name, which was reportedly taken out of Bram Stroker's novel, "Dracula."

Since the Showtime series is known for adapting many fictional characters from different novels, it is likely that this is no coincidence. In "Dracula," Dr. Seward (who is male), in fact, works at an asylum as a psychiatrist.

Because of these observations, many fans are theorizing that Dracula himself might make an appearance on the show's third season.

"Penny Dreadful" season 3 will reportedly only contain nine episodes, unlike its predecessors, which each had 10 episodes.

Shazad Latif has also been confirmed to star on the show, giving life to Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Henry Jekyll. Joining him is Wes Studi playing Kaetenay, a Native American who has a deep connection with Ethan (Josh Hartnett) and becomes allies with Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton).

"Penny Dreadful" season 3 has no official premiere date as of yet, but the show is predicted to return in 2016.
