Pangu releases iOS 9.1 jailbreak

Pangu surprises the jailbreak community with the release of the iOS 9.1 jailbreak. Pangu

After what seemed like forever for hardcore jailbreakers, hacker group Pangu has finally made available the long-demanded iOS 9.1 jailbreak. The software took so long to arrive that some users believed it will never turn up.

Without warning, the Chinese hacking team made available the untethered iOS 9.1 jailbreak to 64-bit iOS devices such as the iPhone 6 and 6s families including their Plus versions, as well as the iPhone 5s.

Users with the iPad Air models, iPad mini 2 and later iterations, as well as the all-new iPad Pro, can also use the iOS 9.1 jailbreak tool.

Pangu has South Korean security expert Jung Hoon Lee, better known as Lokihardt, to thank for the successful release of the iOS 9.1 jailbreak. The famous hacker helped the hacking team by developing a kernel bug that ultimately made iOS 9.1 vulnerable.

Pangu promises that an Apple TV 4 jailbreak is also on the way. No release date is set for that one yet, but judging by the group's tweet below, it won't be available to everyone.

Due to the timing of the jailbreak tool's release, it looks like not a lot of users can take advantage of the iOS 9.1 jailbreak from Pangu when compared to previous jailbreak tools. Apple users will remember that the Cupertino-based company has ceased signing the software last year.

That being said, there's no way to downgrade to older versions of the mobile operating system. Many users have upgraded to newer iOS versions that have been released during the jailbreak's absence, which won't allow them to use Pangu's iOS 9.1 jailbreak.

Those who can take advantage of the Apple iOS 9.1 jailbreak can now download it via Pangu's website. Of course, it is best to back up everything stored in the Apple device before using the jailbreak.
