One Direction break-up update: Zayn Malik sheds light on departure from 1D

Zayn Malik recently spoke for the first time after leaving One Direction, something that caught many by surprise.

There were some who saw his departure coming, especially with his absence during 1D's tour. Though no one really gave it much thought, Malik's surprise announcement caught the world by storm.

Was his success with One Direction too much to handle? From the way Malik put it, the answer points to a yes. Being a popular celebrity, it was apparent that Malik would have to make some sacrifices, such as living a normal and simple life to name a few.

But for Malik, considered to be one of the more popular members of 1D, the limelight was simply overwhelming. Too overwhelming that it came down to a difficult choice of having to give it all up despite breaking the hearts of millions of 1D fans.

Though Malik's explanation seem to be valid, there were some who believed that his departure was a cause of something else.

Rumors about Malik said to be cheating on his fiancée Perrie Edwards came out, something serious considering that the two already had plans of tying the knot. With that rumor, many believe that Malik is trying to win back his fiancée over these infidelity rumors and hopefully push through with their planned marriage.

For those who are unaware, here is Zayn's quote which has spread through various media:

"I can't do this any more. But I've never felt more in control in my life. I feel like I'm doing what's right, right by myself and right by the boys. I did try to do something that I wasn't happy doing for a while, for the sake of maybe other people."

Success seems to have been too much for Malik and now with him quitting 1D, he is hoping that he can restore order in his life.

With regards to One Direction, the future of the group remains in the balance. Will they eventually break up?

One Direction plans to move on as a quartet from here on. However it remains to be seen if 1D can survive and be as popular with only four members.
