Nintendo NX release date: showcase of hybrid console at Tokyo Game Show 2016?

Nintendo fans are highly anticipating the release of the Nintendo NX, and the company has already announced that its launch will take place in March next year. However fans are hoping to catch a glimpse of it at the Tokyo Game Show 2016, happening in September.

Everybody knows that the Japanese console giant is working on their next console dubbed the NX. It is speculated that the Nintendo NX will come equipped with a powerful GPU so it can go head to head with or be even better than the competition, the rumored PlayStation Neo and the Xbox Two.

The Christian Times reported that there is also a possibility that the console may have a late 2016 launch, and the Tokyo Game Show 2016 would the best venue for it.  However, an Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016 reveal will surely be a blast for its fans, if ever that happens.

The report also mentioned that Nintendo may incorporate a modified version of AMD's Polaris GPU. When completed, it is said to be two times better than the PlayStation 4. It is also believed that the upcoming console will be a hybrid type design, a first , if ever it happens. It will be both a console and a handheld gaming device, and a 3DS-like mobile gadget can intertact with the main game console.  Gamers can take their game wherever they like, and when they get home, they can continue with their game on the main console.

The rumor mill also mentioned that the upcoming Nintendo NX will feature an x86 architecture and additional screen support. However, a report from WCCFTech dismissed the Polaris and x86 architecture rumors.

"After speaking to seven different people this week, I can say with confidence that this is false. NX is not using x86 architecture like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The NX has special, custom-made chips and the overall design of the hardware is very modern.," according a Nintendo insider named Emily Rogers.

Rogers added, "The chips are industry leading because they are very modern chips, but having modern chips doesn't necessarily mean Nintendo is aiming to create the most powerful hardware on the market. Furthermore, any NX rumors on "Polaris chips" and "Polaris architecture" are all wacky. There's a good reason why those rumors are wacky."

There is no official word from Nintendo with regards to the technical specifications of their upcoming NX. It seems that fans need to wait a little more time.
