Weeks after tying the knot, Ian Somerhalder celebrated his wife Nikki Reed's 27th birthday with an Instagram post on Monday, May 18.

The actor shared a black and white photo of the "Twilight" actress closing her eyes and making a wish while the"'Vampire Diaries" star knelt in front of her while holding a candlelit cupcake in his hands.

He captioned the shot, "Happy Birthday my love. Me and the world celebrate you and hope all your dreams come true. I'm in awe of your compassion to create positive change in the world."

On Tuesday, Reed also took to the photo sharing app to thank her family and friends for celebrating her special day with her and her husband over the weekend.

The actress shared a collage of photos from the party and captioned it, "I feel so full, so complete surrounded by such an amazing group of friends and family. It was the most beautiful day filled with love, laughter (a little too much — my stomach still hurts) and a few dirty dancing pool lifts (don't worry boys I won't embarrass you)."

"I am learning to trust myself more, and I am learning to love even more than I ever thought possible," she continued. "So much of my inspiration comes from the vibrations inside me, but also in what you guys project. Thank you for your amazing energy. Thank you for your pictures, your songs, for your love. I can't wait for 27 to reveal itself. I'm ready."

Somerhalder and Reed seem to be taking to married life quite well after their wedding last April. The two wed at the Tuscali Mountain Inn in Topanga, California after nine months of dating.

Guests included Somerhalder's TVD co-stars Kat Graham, Paul Wesley, Matt Davis, and Phoebe Tonkin. This is the first marriage for the actor and the second for Reed, who split from her ex, "American Idol" alum Paul McDonald, in March 2014.
