Nexus 7, Nexus 9 2015 release date and specs rumors: Google working on new tablet iterations?

The Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6 are getting all the attention from the rumor mill as it is believed that Google will launch these devices this month, marking the first time the software giant releases two new Nexus devices instead of one. But word on the street is that there are more Nexus products coming.

These devices are reportedly a new iteration of the Nexus 7 tablet, which Asus developed and released in 2012, and the Nexus 9, another tablet HTC made for Google last year. Details are scanty as far as what these devices will look like or what sort of revamping they will get.

But there are certainly a lot of areas to improve on. The processor under the hoods of the devices could use a little touching up now that more advanced Nvidia chipsets are available. A face-lift in the camera department will help, too. The 2015 versions of the Nexus 7 and 9 might just be powerful enough to be the first Android 6.0 Marshmallow-powered devices after this overhaul.

With the new Android operating system taking shape, there are expectations that Google is also working on new Nexus devices. For now, though, the only devices it will most likely unveil in the weeks to come (in its scheduled Sept. 29 event, to be exact) are the Nexus 5X or Nexus 5 2015 by LG and the Nexus 6 by Huawei.

The former is said to come with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display while the latter spreads out that same quality on its 5.7-inch screen. A recent benchmark test revealed that there's a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor humming inside of the Huawei-made Nexus while LG's creation reportedly has Snapdragon 808.

Both devices are apparently getting 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage space. They will reportedly share the same 13 MP rear shooter but the selfie snappers will be different – the Nexus 5 reboot could get 5 MP while the Nexus 7 could don a bigger 8 MP unit.
