The long wait will soon be over for "NCIS" fans as season 13 premieres in two days. They will finally be able to know what the future holds for Agent Gibbs, who was left to die in the finale of the previous season. It looks like fate won't be as kind to the agent as fans would hope; still, it is better than seeing him bite the dust completely.
While Gibbs will likely survive, his near-death experience will change his life and the people around him forever. Dr. Cyril Taft will be in charge of restoring him to health and while he will be successful in doing so, the emotional effect of what happened will definitely need more than just patching up. This aspect is where Gibbs will be totally transformed.
"NCIS" season 13 will see Gibbs fighting for his life in the operating room, but this is not as easy as it sounds. Gibbs will experience hallucinations, and there, he will revisit the short-lived moments when he, his wife Shannon and their kid Kelly were a happy family. In his imaginations, Kelly will lead him to follow the light, which he will find tempting.
However, Gibbs' time isn't up yet and he will wake up to Agent Tony DiNozzo now in charge of bringing down the terrorist group that put him in the hospital bed. DiNozzo initially does not want to, preferring to stay with his boss instead, and apparently, Gibbs isn't up for the idea either but for a different reason.
Change in leadership is just the beginning. In season 13, the agents will be given more responsibilities at work. But more than that, the incident will allow each of them to show their true selves and what they are working so hard to becoming.
"NCIS" season 13 premieres on Sept. 22 with "Stop the Bleeding."
