NBA trade rumors: Klay Thompson might move to the Philadelphia 76ers soon

This season, the Golden State Warriors have not exactly remained the dominant superteam everyone thought they were last season. Even then, Klay Thompson, one of their key players, will start becoming a problem with his expiring contract. The team might not be able to afford keeping him.

Max deals have been given already to Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and, of course, Kevin Durant, securing the three of them for the next three years. Thompson, on the other hand, might ask for a higher pay given his stellar performance recently. So far into this season, he has averaged 21.1 points per game and his career high 47.1 percent from the three-point line.

If Thompson does demand a higher pay, the Warriors management might not be able to give that. That brings up the question of where he would be likely going to next, assuming that the Warriors plan to trade him. If given the chance, Thompson may have thoughts of moving to Philadelphia and playing for the 76ers.

According to Metro US, Thompson previously spoke highly of the Sixers. He once said that he would love to see a healthy Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Although they are not the greatest team, Thompson might be the big difference maker, the star for the team.

It is always possible that Thompson might slowly get tired of being under the shadow of Curry and Durant, the same reason Kyrie Irving left the Cleveland Cavaliers. What was once the famous Splash Brothers, Thompson and Curry, might no longer be anymore as it has slowly been fading as well.

Thompson knows how to lead a team seeing his performances with Curry in the previous seasons. He could be that man again for the 76ers. Right now, however, fans would not see much as the Warriors will still need him for this season to defend their title. There will definitely be more rumors as to where Thompson will be when his contract expires. In the end, he may be satisfied asking the maximum the Warriors can give so he can stay with the team.
