'Narcos' season 3 spoilers, cast news: Nicholas Gonzalez is latest cast member

A screen grab from the teaser trailer for "Narcos" season 3. Netflix US & Canada

Though "Narcos" may have killed off its central character — the notoriously charismatic drug lord played by Wagner Moura, Pablo Escobar — it seems like fans still have plenty of reasons to be excited about the third season of Netflix's popular drug cartel crime drama series.

One reason to be excited for "Narcos" season 3 is that the new batch of episodes is bringing in a host of new faces to the series. According to Deadline, one of those faces belongs to actor Nicholas Gonzalez from "Sleepy Hollow," "Pretty Little Liars," and "Border Town." Gonzalez just nabbed a recurring role in the "Narcos" season 3 and the actor has been set to play the part of a new DEA agent. A dependable and accomplished member of the DEA task force, it looks like Agent Pena (Pedro Pascal) and Agent Murphy (Boyd Holbrook) have a new man to rely on when the they go after the Cali Cartel.

However, while reports indicate that Pascal has been confirmed to return as Pena, fans are still awaiting word whether Holbrook will return as well.

Another new face on "Narcos" is that of Andrea Lando. Lando is to play the part of Colombian beauty queen Maria. Clever and smart, Maria tries her best to survive in the narco-filled state. Kerry Bishe has also been recruited to join the series to play the part of Christina, a character with a Colombian husband taking part in the drug cartel.

"Narcos" has originally been focusing on the Medellin drug cartel led by Escobar during its past two seasons on Netflix. Now, with Escobar dead, the series is moving on to the Cali Cartel with four new drug lords at its very center: the Rodrigez brothers Gilberto and Miguel played by Francisco Denis, the mysterious 'Chepe', and of course, Pancho Herrera (Alberto Ammann).

"Narcos" is set to return with season 3 in 2017.
