Things are starting to heat up on the set of "Mr. Robot" for its sophomore season.

Sam Esmail, the creator of the critically acclaimed psychological techno thriller, announced via his Twitter account that the cameras already started rolling in New York City early this week.

Esmail posted a photo of a street where one of the exterior scenes for the season was being shot. He added the caption "Day 1 of #MrRobot 2.0."

The lead stars of the series also revealed on social media that they have already reported to work . Rami Malek, who portrays the role of delusional hacker Elliot Alderson, showed a photo of his wardrobe for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Christian Slater shared a photo of the cap that his character Mr. Robot wears in the series.

The first season of "Mr. Robot" revealed that Slater's character is only a figment of Elliot's imagination. For the upcoming season, fans are looking forward to see how Elliot will deal with the realization that Mr. Robot is his deceased father who often appears in his mind.

Another plot point that the fans are looking forward to in "Mr. Robot" season 2 is the involvement of Whiterose with ECorp's villainous CEO Phillip Price (Michael Christofer).

B.D. Wong, the actor who portrays the role of the mysterious transgender woman, revealed during his February interview (via Zap2it) that Whiterose will be seen frequently in season 2.

"I think it's safe to say Whiterose is going to be in it more than she was in it the first season. But how much more is not clear to me," the actor revealed.

He also mentioned that Esmail was very secretive about the direction of his character on the show.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 is slated to return later this year.
