'Mr. Robot' season 2 release date and plot rumors - what to expect

Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson in "Mr. Robot" USA/ Mr. Robot

"Mr. Robot" is yet another TV series that proved to be an attention grabber and now fans can't wait for season 2's premiere date.

USA Network has yet to confirm the release date for the sophomore season, but according to When-Will, it will air sometime in 2016.

Since season 1 aired its premiere on the network back in June 2015, speculations suggest that the next season will also be released in June next year.

However, there's no confirmation to that and people will just have to wait for further announcements on the release date for "Mr. Robot" season 2.

Season 1's finale episode left fans shocked by the major plot twist. Not only that, even Christian Slater himself, who plays Mr. Robot, was surprised with the ending.

"I couldn't believe it," Slater shared his reaction to Access Hollywood, adding that he was "really happy" and excited about it.

With how things ended back in season 1, it is easy to assume that season 2 will bring more explosive episodes that will surely keep fans' eyes glued to the TV screens.

As for the plot, The Hollywood Reporter previously revealed that showrunner Sam Esmail hinted that season 2 will showcase Rami Malek's Elliot struggle to fit into society.

"It's going to be him facing what he's done: the consequences of his actions along with the other fsociety hackers," the showrunner said, in the interview with the media outlet.

Although the show has not announced official updates, the next season will reportedly feature a darker story and explore Elliot's mental situation, with Elliot's situation worsening as the story about the revolution unfolds.

Master Herald also speculated that season 2 will feature more stimulating plotlines or it could also tone down the dramatic side of the story to ease the anxiety fans would feel upon watching the show.
