The release of the Moto Droid Turbo 2 (Moto X Force in China) in the United States via carrier Verizon is closing in. The device, which also goes by the codename Kinzie, has recently been approved by the Global Certification Forum. This means that it is officially ready for take-off.

The Lenovo-owned company is said to put great focus on the design and durability of the Droid Turbo sequel. The tech firm is said to be working on making the body slip-proof by using rubber for its sides. The handset will also be handsomely and sturdily built to resist 3 feet of water for half an hour at most.

The Moto Droid Turbo 2 will allegedly sport a 5.5-inch Quad HD display, which will purportedly be made of what is being touted as "unbreakable" glass. As fit as the outside, Motorola makes sure the inner makings are on top form too.

There will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor inside to drive the premium Motorola offering. The choice of chipset should work nicely with 3 GB of RAM. Users will also have two variants of Moto Droid Turbo 2 to choose from.

The first one, which serves as the entry level version of the handset, offers 32 GB of storage space. The other one doubles that with 64 GB to boot. The Moto Droid Turbo 2 will allegedly boast a 20-MP rear-facing shooter and a 5-MP front-facing snapper.

To be able to enjoy this impressive set of specs, a 3760-mAh battery unit will be stuffed inside the Verizon exclusive. It is reportedly getting Android 5.1.1 Lollipop but it is expected to be made upgradeable to the newer Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Reports suggest that the Moto Droid Turbo 2 will cost around $630. It remains to be seen what sort of offers and bundles Verizon will cook up for its customers. The carrier is expected to officially launch the smartphone in the US on Oct. 15, which is tomorrow.
