'Mighty No. 9' release date: title set to arrive on June 24

Mighty No. 9 will be released on June 21 in North America and Asia. Worldwide release will be on June 24. Mighty No. 9

The highly anticipated, Kickstarter–backed "Mighty No. 9" has gone gold, which means that the game is finished and will be ready to be delivered anytime soon. North American and Asian fans can get their hands on the game by June 21, while the rest of the world will have it by June 24.

Keiji Inafune, one of the game's producers, officially announced "Mighty No. 9's" status last May 2. He also apologized to the fans and their backers for the long delay that happened to the game.

Inafune said, "Firstly, I would like to say again how sincerely sorry we are for how long we have kept all of our fans waiting. We are finally able to deliver some long awaited news regarding Mighty No. 9. We have now confirmed the following release dates for Mighty No. 9: June 21st 2016 (North America & Asia) and June 24th 2016 (World Wide). We understand that as a result of the various delays we have disappointed and let down our fans, but we are happy to finally be able to deliver the game to everyone who brought us this far."

He also said that the date is final and set in stone, that no more further delays will happen to game.

The Kickstarter campaign was started back in September 2013, and the game was expected to be ready by spring of 2015 but several delays have happened to the game and it was pushed back.

"Mighty No. 9" is a 2D action side-scrolling game and is very similar to Inafune's "Megaman." Both have similar gameplay, and many consider the latest game as "Megaman's" spiritual successor.

Players will be able to control a robot named Beck, who needs to fight other robots that have gone rogue. Since Beck is the ninth robot, a boss stage will be with the other eight robots.

"Might No. 9" will be available for Linux, Mac, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Nintentdo Wii U. Versions for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita will follow at a later date. The game will be available in digital and physical disc format.
