As the year draws to a close with just over a month left, fans are inching closer to seeing a set of new gadgets including the much hyped Microsoft Surface Pro 5 which is said to be making its grand debut sometime in spring of next year.

Given that the tipped release date may have some merit as it comes from veteran tech journalist Paul Thurrott, fans can now focus on a more fun part in speculating on its rumored features. More recently, an interesting claim surfaced online suggesting that the hybrid device will actually be running the Android operating system.

Microsoft products obviously come out sporting the in-house Windows OS and the Surface Pro line is no exception. In its past four iterations, it has launched with the company's very own OS so this particular theory is making waves as it quite bizarre for the Redmond-based company to outsource something that they actually have.

Then again, more and more tablets nowadays are running on Android and with the Surface Pro 5 presumably tapping more into its duality, it may actually be a good thing. Should Microsoft somehow still want their own software on their hardware, they can take a page from Lenovo's manual with the Yoga Book running on either Windows or Android. More so, it opens up the upcoming device's target demographics to Android loyalists as well.

Another interesting nugget that has come out of the Surface Pro 5 rumor pool is that it will be launching with a complementary stylus that has a rechargeable mechanics. The patent for the scheme was uncovered by Patently Mobile way back in January but has only been making an impact now. It details a magnetic charging dock built in to give the brand-new Surface Pen improved capabilities.

Originally tipped to come out last month during Microsoft's fall event, which obviously did not happen, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is already tracking to be one of the most awaited devices for next year. With its predecessor making such great impressions, the upcoming iteration of the 2-in-1 gadget is expected to bring in some groundbreaking features.
