Microsoft Surface Phone release date unconfirmed; rumors of imminent release caused by a deleted tweet from a Microsoft engineering director

Without any official announcements from Microsoft, the Surface Phone is still just a rumor. However, that does not stop tech enthusiasts from believing that the tech giant is, in fact, releasing the device sometime soon since its Lumia phones recently started selling at discounted prices.

According to Ecumenical News, the reason behind the surge of discounted Lumia phones is due to the fact that these smartphones will be pulled out of the market by the end of the year. After all, it is speculated that the Lumia — despite being acquired from Nokia — was causing remarkable losses for the company. As such, fans and tech enthusiasts alike are now suspecting the Surface Phone's imminent arrival in the market, despite its rumored existence since Microsoft never confirmed it in the first place.

Fans are just clinging to the fact that — despite Microsoft's lack of confirmation for the device — the company has not denied it either. In fact, the same article states that Janet Baker, the company's engineering director, has tweeted recently that a Surface Phone is indeed making its way to the market in the coming days.

She basically said that this new smartphone is "not not confirmed," which points to a double negative. Regardless of whether it is just a grammatical error or a deliberate statement, it still proves to be one of the most prominent evidence of Microsoft's upcoming Surface Phone release. Unfortunately, the Tweet has since been deleted, which increased suspicion among the fans.

Regardless, the Christian Times says that the entry model for this smartphone will offer 128 GB internal storage and 6 GB RAM, as noted from past leaks. Also, it is possible that 256 GB and 512 GB with 8 GB RAM variants will be sold as well, but the price for the device is yet to be announced.
