The squad Mexico has taken to South America this year seems much stronger than line ups they have previous taken to tournaments such as Cop America. Where as they have opted to use the tournament to blood younger players in the past, this year they have brought a strong core of senior players who should be able to make sure Mexico is competing this season.

El Tri will be looking to make sure they hit the ground running once the tournament games start by preparing with some international friendlies in the weeks ahead of the competition commencing.

The first of their preparation games comes tonight against Peru, and they should provide a stern test in today's match although they are certainly not among the favorites to make much impact at this year's Copa America.

Despite not being one of the stand out teams in South America for this summer, Peru do have a very experienced team, and that could ensure they always remain difficult to break down and defeat.

One of the most experienced players in the Mexico squad is Rafael Marquez who is 36 years old. He will be sharing his career experiences with the younger players of the squad and that could help to make the difference in the tight games to come.

In defence, 21 year old Carlos Salcedo is the youngest player, as Mexico look to ensure their back line remains solid through experienced and steady heads.

Most of the younger players who may have filled Mexico's squad are being sent to the Under 20's World Cup. However, "Tecatito" Jesus Corona at 22 years of age is one of the most exciting and dynamic players in their squad for this summer's games.

Today's big game between Mexico and Peru has a scheduled start time of 9 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on ESPN or online through live stream by clicking here.
