Mexico will secure a place in the Copa America 2015 quarter finals if they can defeat Ecuador today. Mexican fans have been left with mixed emotions with their team's performances so far, drawing two from two in their opening games. However, today they play an Ecuador team that has lost both its opening games, and this time Mexico expects nothing less than a win.

In their opening encounter against Bolivia, Mexico were booed off the pitch after a lackluster 0-0 draw.

However, they put on a surprising performance against Chile on Monday night, and thrilled their fans by not giving up and giving as good as they got against the highly fancied host nation.

That game ended 3-3 and gave Mexican fans some hope that their team can go to the further stages of this year's competition even though they have left a number of their senior players behind to rest for the CONCACAF Gold Cup that takes place later this summer.

The draw with Chile ensured that Mexico still have their fate in their own hands, and things are simple for them today. A win would put them through to the quarter finals. Another draw however would make things complicated, as they would finish in third place in the group, which means they would the be competing with the other two third placed teams in this year's competition. To qualify in third place they would need to be among one of the top two third placed finishers. However, a third placed finish would also guarantee them among the most difficult fixtures in the quarter finals. That is something they would prefer to avoid, and a win today would see them potentially have easier opponents in the next round and a greater chance to progress to the semi finals.

The Mexicans will be hoping that their attack can perform as well as they did against Chile. No one expected them to put on three goals against the host nation, but their penetration was good and they caused many problems for the Chilean defense all night.

Their main problem though was their defense and that will be the major concern for tonight. They let in three goals against Chile, but also were lucky not to concede more. They looked at odds a various points in the match and they will want to sure up their back four as best they can for today's game. If they can keep a clean sheet against Ecuador today then they should have an excellent chance at taking all three points.

Ecuador's attack has not been that great at the Copa America 2015 tournament thus far, but with players like Fidel Martinez, Jefferson Montero and Enner Valencia, they should be able to cause some problems for the Mexican back line.

Today's big game between Mexico and Ecuador has a start time of 5 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream by clicking here.
