Another member of the development team behind the upcoming game "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will soon leave BioWare. Will this affect the projected release date of the sci-fi role-playing title?
In a series of tweets, senior editor Cameron Harris revealed that she has decided to leave BioWare. However, her reason for leaving the company is not to work on another project or open a new venture of her own. Rather, Harris confirmed that she will be leaving the gaming industry altogether.
According to Polygon, Harris plans to leave the developer next month. It is unclear if her leaving the company will have an impact on the projected release date of "Mass Effect: Andromeda," the project that BioWare is working on at the moment. Previously, it was hinted that the company is targeting an early 2017 roll-out for the game.
Harris's departure from BioWare is the latest in a series of key staff members leaving the company. Just recently, writer Christopher Schlerf left the studio and returned to his Seattle hometown. Back in December, "Mass Effect: Andromeda" development director Chris Wynn also left the team.
Before working for BioWare, Harris edited projects for Microsoft and Nintendo as well as ArenaNet. For BioWare, she worked first on "Star Wars: The Old Republic" and "Dragon Age: Inquisition."
iDigitalTimes said that while some key staff members have already left the "Mass Effect: Andromeda" development team, the studio may already have a plan in place, seeing that Harris will not leave her post until April. By then, there is already a possibility that the team will be complete, with new members onboard to continue the game's development.
The industry follower said that an example of BioWare bridging a gap is BioWare writer Drew Karpyshyn returning to the company to work on "Star Wars: The Old Republic."
