Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5 will be quite different than the previous chapters, due to the fact that the main characters, headed by Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), are likely to spend a lot of time in the outer space. Nevertheless, fans will learn more about the cosmic realm that the team got sucked into.

As reported by Comic Book, the official set photos from the first three episodes of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." have been released, showing the new environment and unfamiliar faces that Coulson and his group need to get used to. These episodes are "Orientation" parts 1 and 2, and "A Life Spent."

Unfortunately for the agents, a predatory alien appears to be lurking nearby, waiting for the right opportunity to prey on them. To note, the same alien creature showed up at the cliffhanger season 4 finale where the team was abducted in a diner and delivered straight to an otherworldly territory. The alien is shown wearing human skin as his suit.

While the agents have no idea where they are, the team will be left with no choice but to get along with other people who are also trapped in outer space. Of course, it should be expected from Coulson and company that they will try to find their way back to Earth. However, there will be a lot of challenges to deal with, including the alien predator that is trying to hunt them down.

According to Cinema Blend, it is likely that Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5 will see the main characters trapped in space for several episodes. Marvel Studios' TV executive Jeph Loeb even mentioned in reference to the series' milestone 100th episode that the team will figure out a way to get home. To note, the first two episodes of season 5 will be the 89th and 90th. If the agents are only to find a way to escape from space in episode 100, it means that the viewers will see more extraterrestrial sequences than they expect.

Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5 will have a two-hour premiere on Friday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. EST.
