It has been more than a year since "Mario Kart 8" offered its last DLC to its fans. It is now speculated that one is coming up and may contain the Kalamari Desert.

Hardcore fans of one of the most embraced racing games from Nintendo is looking forward to an expansion pack after Nintendo U.K. posted an image on Twitter. The image contains a screenshot of the desert race course from "Mario Kart 64" and contains the message "Good things come to those who wait. #MK8."

The last DLC for the game was released last April 2015, while the first one dropped in November 2014. The expansion pack contained "The Legend of Zelda" and "Animal Crossing" characters. The Kalamari Desert track was last released for "Mario Kart 7" for the Nintendo 3DS.

After the posting, fans were expecting that an announcement would take place at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016. However, nothing was announced during the event related to the game.

Fans are also speculating that the upcoming DLC may contain other characters from Nintendo's other IP and there are still many to choose from. "Mario Kart 8" was originally released in May 2014 for the Wii U, where players can choose to be a character from the Mario franchise and drive a kart around various race tracks. Fans have also been clamoring to have new add-ons for the game, such as new or remake race track. It seems that their wish will finally come true.

"Mario Kart 8" is considered the best-selling Wii U game with 7.5 million copies sold worldwide.

Meanwhile, several fans are also discussing the game and the Kalamari Desert post on GameFAQs, which shows mixed emotions about the announcement. Several were saying that nothing will really come up because the company will focus its attention on the NX, and one even said that "Mario Kart 9" is in development, and the Wii U is nearing the end of the line. However, many also believe that a third DLC pack will arrive soon or the post should have been taken down shortly after it was posted if it was a mistake.

Nintendo has not issued any official statement regarding the upcoming DLC, but fans are expecting that one will be made soon.
