'Mafia 3' news update: Latest trailer features the Marcano family; Soundtrack for game revealed

"Mafia 3" will hit the shelves on Oct. 7, 2016. 2K Games

Publisher 2K recently released the latest trailer for its upcoming game "Mafia 3." Fans were able to meet the Marcano family, which is controlling New Bodeaux, the fictional New Orleans-like city. Lincoln Clay, the main character in the game, will be facing off with this family. Additionally, a 100-song soundtrack was also revealed by developer Hangar 13, which will greet the players once the game hits the shelves on Oct. 7.

The trailer reveals how the Mafia family took control of the city that Clay calls home. The Marcano family always gets what they want, and if anybody tries to stop them, the person ends up in a body bag. They even have to sacrifice their relationships just to gain the power they want.

The game's description reads: "Meet the faces of the New Bordeaux Mafia. The Marcano family – led by Sal Marcano – has maintained a stranglehold on the city for as long as many can remember. Four brothers, bound to the mob their entire lives, are at a crossroads. Sal's son, Giorgi, wants to help usher in a new era even now as Lincoln Clay tries to tear the old ways apart. What is the next step for the Cosa Nostra? And who will take it?"

Meanwhile, the developer revealed the soundtrack for the upcoming game. It is composed of 100 songs from different artists of the 1960s. Songs related to the Vietnam War were also included in compilation, since Clay is a veteran of that particular war, said Rolling Stone.

Some of the songs are:

  • The Rolling Stones: "Paint it Black," "Sympathy for the Devil"and more
  • Steppenwolf: "Born To Be Wild" and "Desperation"
  • Sam and Dave: "Soul Man" and "Hold on, I'm Comin'"
  • Jefferson Airplane: "Somebody To Love" and "White Rabbit"
  • Sam Cooke: "Wonderful World," "Bring it on Home to Me" and more
  • The Temptations: "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" and "I Wish It Would Rain"
  • Aretha Franklin: "Respect" and "Chain of Fools"
  • Johnny Cash: "Ring Of Fire" and "Folsom Prison Blues" (Live)

A Pandora playlist is also available for easy listening.

"Mafia 3" is due on Oct. 7 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
