MacBook Pro 2016 rumors, specs: Apple expecting bumper sales

Although the MacBook Pro 2016 hasn't been made official by Apple yet, it is projected to be one of the most popular products of the Cupertino-based tech giant this month.

According to Macrumors, a lot of people seem to be waiting for the MacBook Pro 2016. This would explain why Apple only shipped 4.4 million notebooks, which is down from last year's 4.8 million.

This is reportedly because users are looking to get the MacBook Pro 2016, which is heavily rumored but has not been announced by the company. Because of the absence of the device, Apple is losing sales, as per Wccftech.

Users are looking forward to the MacBook Pro 2016 seeing that they are the first in their series to be equipped with Touch ID support and new OLED display touch bar, which will replace the function keys above the keyboard.

The MacBook Pro 2016 is also expected to come in two sizes – a 13-inch display and a 15-inch display, with Apple retiring the 11-inch version.

On the design side of things, users can expect a new metal injection molded hinge. Other features include Type-C USB ports and the Thunderbolt 3.

Under the hood, it is expected that there will be an Intel Kaby Lake processor, the more powerful successor of the Intel Skylake chipset.

With this, the MacBook Pro 2016 should be faster.  Add to that a longer battery life, thanks to the processor's lower power consumption. The Intel Kaby Lake also opens the door for improved 3D graphics and 4K resolution.

However, the problem is that this processor won't be available until later this year. Wccftech reports that Apple is going for the Skylake instead.

Compared to the last-gen MacBook Pro units, the upcoming Skylake-powered MacBook iterations will boast increased CPU speeds by 10 to 20 percent and enhanced performance of integrated graphics chips by 16 to 41 percent.

Apple is expected to lift the veil off the MacBook Pro 2016 this September.
