Nothing concrete has surfaced to date concerning the third game in the "Left 4 Dead" series. Yet fans are speculating that developer Valve may surprise them this coming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016, happening this month.

Fans of the series got excited when several job postings from its developer, Turtle Rock Studios, were released online. The company is looking for a narrative director, animation programmer, senior character artist and a few more. However, the posting also stated that the project is an unannounced IP, which is not "Left 4 Dead 3," on which industry experts agree, Ecumenical News reported.

Additionally, Xbox Achievements mentioned that the third installment will not be created by the same studio, according to Turtle Rock Studio co-founder Phil Robb.

He said, "I think we're pretty much done with it. It's Valve's thing now. We've kind of gone off in our own direction. So I'd kinda like to see something new being done with it, and Valve always does great stuff, but it'd be cool to go back to it as just a fan and not a developer. But I doubt you'll see anything from us."

Robb added, "If you look back at 'Left 4 Dead' there are some things there we felt kind of 'proved out' the theory for Evolve, like the Tank battles being one of them. That's essentially a 4 versus 1 experience, especially if you're playing Versus mode, and we thought, 'wow, that's one of the most intense things in 'Left 4 Dead.' We could take that and expand upon it.'"

However, Express reported early this year that Valve has put on hold "Half Life 3" so they can concentrate on "Left 4 Dead 3." It was also mentioned that the company plans a 2017 release and there will be new characters that will come with it, a female named Katherine, a gangster named Irvin, a comic book fanatic called Keenan and a well-known Kenpo fighter called Garrett Jr.

For now, fans can only wait if Valve will pull something up related to "Left 4 Dead 3."
