Canadian manufacturer Kobo has recently launched Kobo Aura H2O, a waterproof ebook reader that can withstand being under a meter of water for half an hour. The users of the new device can read in the bath, pool, or beach without damaging the product.

"Kobo Aura H2O meets IP67 certification," the company states on its website. "This means it can be fully immersed in up to 1 meter of water (just over 3 feet) for up to 30 minutes, with its port cover closed. It is also dustproof and sandproof, so you can take your Kobo Aura H2O to the beach, to the bath, or to your bed without worry."

The device has a cover for the port, and this must be properly closed to ensure that water does no damage to the device. It also comes with a drying cloth, although the website says that one can also use any clean, soft, dry cloth for wiping off any liquid. The waterproof technology also keeps the device intact when one accidentally spills water on it, or when they're caught in the rain.

The 4GB internal storage can store up to 3,000 titles; and when expanded with a 32 GB micro SD card, the device can hold up to 30,000 ebooks. The ebooks downloaded from Kobo are stored in the cloud, so users can access them with another device using a Kobo free app. And if they want to delete a title from their Kobo Aura H2O, they can put it back again at a later time.

The battery of the Kobo Aura H2O lasts up to two months when used for 30 minutes a day with the WiFi turned off. It comes with Facebook Timeline, chess, Sudoku, and other features. The no-glare 6.8-inch display allows for easy reading without hurting the eyes.

With the Kobo Aura H2O's waterproof technology, those who love to read in the bath, pool, or beach no longer have to hold back on their reading.
