'Kino's Journey: The Beautiful World €“ The Animated Series' gets new preview

Kino and Hermes in the new anime adaptation of "Kino's Journey" Kino no Tabi official website

Earlier this year, a new animated series adaptation for "Kino's Journey" was announced.  Slated to air this fall, the anime will still be an adaptation of Keiichi Sigsawa and Kouhaku Kuroboshi's light novel series published by Dengeki Bunko Magazine.

They recently released the second preview of the upcoming animation, which showed further details on what the series could be about.

The light novel series has already been adapted into a 13-episode series last 2003 and distributed in North America by ADV Films. The new adaptation, though, will be produced by Egg Firm and Crunchyroll, and animated by Lerche. The production team and cast have also been recently announced. Taking the project's directorial helm will be Taguchi Tomohisa, known for the "Persona 3" movies. There are also big names in the voice acting department, such as Aoi Yuki from "Madoka Magica" and "My Hero Academia," who will voice the titular character Kino. The talking motorcycle Hermes will be voiced by Saitou Souma from anime "HaruChika."

Kino's Journey is originally a light novel series about a girl Kino and her talking motorcycle travelling a magical world, staying in one place for only three days. The previous anime adaptation was an episodic journey where each episode focused on one place. The series is famed to be one of the most philosophically-heavy anime. At the end of each episode, there is always a lesson or an idea or some kind of pay-off that makes each episode feel like a self-contained story.

Since the announcement of the new adaptation, a few teasers have been released. The first key visual that came out was created by Kouhaku Kuroboshi, the same person who illustrated the light novel series.

The first episode will have a preview screening this Oct. 1 at the Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival, with the regular broadcasting to start on AT-X on Friday, Oct. 6, at 10 p.m. JST.
