KickAss Torrents shut down became an advantage for other torrent sites?

After Kickass Torrents was forced to shut down following the arrest of its founder, reports claimed that other file-sharing websites will also suffer the same fate.

The reported founder of Kickass Torrents, Artem Vaulin, was arrested in Poland after he was charged with four counts of U.S. criminal indictment. Aside from Kickass Torrents, other domains that were being run by the company were also taken down online.

Rumors claimed that file-sharing websites like The Pirate Bay will also be taken off the web in order to obliterate online piracy. However, reports claim that the visitors of the Swedish torrent site increased by as much as 67 percent.

While the fate of The Pirate Bay remains uncertain since the anti-piracy advocates continue their fight against torrent sites, one of the company's employees, who goes by the name Spud17, claimed that the site could prevail in staying online. "TPB is as important today as it was yesterday, and its role in being the galaxy's most resilient torrent site will continue for the foreseeable future," Spud17 told Torrent Freak back in August. "So it's no real surprise that it is once more the destination of choice or that it has survived for so long in spite of the inevitable turnover of crew," the member added.

Aside from The Pirate Bay, file sharers are also flocking to other torrent sites. According to a report by The Bitbag, Torrentz2.eu received more than 55 million torrents from 64 domains. This is a big feat since the website lacks several features such as the bookmarks, voting, and commenting tabs.

Other Torrentz clone sites that are reportedly grabbing more traffic after Kickass Torrents shut down include the domain Torrentz.ec, with as much as 27,508,811 spanning across 28 domains, as well as Torrentzeu.to, which has a significant increase in the number of indexed torrents in their website.
