Kate Gosselin has just revealed on her TLC birthday special "Kate Plus 8: The Big Four Oh" that she became much happier once she got divorced from Jon in 2009.

In an exclusive clip shared with Entertainment Weekly, the mother of eight said, "It's been the greatest five years of my life."

Kate celebrated her 40th birthday by taking her children and her best friend to Mexico, and in the clip, the reality star refuses to talk about her ex, saying, "Don't talk to me about ex situations. I don't define myself with that."

According to Us Weekly, the former "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant stayed at the Karisma Hotels and Resorts Generations Riviera Maya in Mexico and that all her children spent some time helping out at Little Eko Chefs Kitchen where they decorated gourmet birthday cakes for their mother.

The family also reportedly had lunch at the Haab restaurant, and Kate had a girls' night out with her friend.

Kate was married to Jon from 1999 to 2009. Together they have eight children. Daughters Cara and Madelyn are twins and are 14 years old. In May 2004, she gave birth to sextuplets: sons Aaden, Colin, and Joel; and daughters Leah, Alexis, and Hannah. They are now 11 years old.

The TLC star said that she would like it if people stopped asking her whether or not she's dating anybody.

"I would like that to stop," says the 40-year old to her friend in the clip.

Kate has been linked to her bodyguard Steve Neild, but both of them have denied the rumors. Recently, the star has been reportedly dating millionaire Jeff Prescott.

Rumors circulated last month that she was engaged to Prescott, but on June 1, Kate wrote on Twitter, "FYI: I'm not engaged-not even dating any1."

As for raising her kids, the reality star still does things the same way, saying, "My ideas haven't changed, my parenting hasn't changed. I'm just doing it alone now."
