Jessa Duggar's husband Ben Seewald says the real friend is the one who tells you the truth, even if it hurts

Ben Seewald, husband of Jessa Duggar gives more "tough love" and asks what makes a true friend. Facebook/19 Kids and Counting

Ben Seewald, the deeply religious husband of Jessa Duggar from the hit show 19 Kids and Counting is known for giving "tough love" to people on his social media accounts, often sharing the word of God despite earning criticism and the displeasure of some people.

This time around, Ben shared a photo of a blindfolded man who is one step away from his doom on his Facebook page.

He wrote, "This blindfolded man is in incredible danger. There are two onlookers who claim to be his friends. The first says to himself, 'Well, I don't want to offend him. He might get angry with me and call me names.' He yells out to the man, 'You're doing great man! Keep it up!' The second, caring more about the man's safety and willing to endure a temporary flash of anger, runs toward the man, frantically warning him of destruction and with tears pleading him to turn back."

After offering this spiritual analogy, Ben asks: Which is the true friend?

Ben has some pretty strong views about friendship, and often discusses them on his Facebook account. Earlier, he shared a quote that says: "A best friend won't agree with you to make you happy. If anything, they'll say what needs to be said, no matter if you want to hear it or not."

The young newlywed, who is expecting his first child with wife Jessa has repeatedly said that he speaks the "hard truth" not so that he will become popular and receive the praise of men.

"I know it will not," he said. "I say it because I love and care about you. Your true friend is the one who tells you the most truth, even if it hurts him in doing so. It would be cruel of me to hide the truth that there is a coming judgment day."

He added that when Jesus Himself was on Earth and shared the truth, people actually hated Him for it.
